At the 2014 PSAC Ontario Triennial Convention a resolution (left)was passed requiring PSAC Ontario to switch its banking from the current comercial banking to banking with a Credit Union.
The recommendation of non concurrence was defeated and triggered the motion of changing the reommendation to concurrence.
Subsequently delegates to the 2014 PSAC Ontario convention passed the motion with the recommendation of concurrence .
PSAC Ontario is still, 3 month later, in the process of evaluating option available for its switch to Credit Union banking.
Following convention, the Kingston AreaCouncil, under the lead of its 1. Vice President, negotiatd a deal (below)with the Kingston Federal Employees Credit Union for unionized and Military Employees.
This offer is valid for ANY unionized employees regardless if they are federal, provincial, or private sector workers and regardless if they reside in Kingston or not and is not limited to members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada.
Mike Lafleur, the manager of the Kingston Federal Employees Credit Union, has offered to travel to Toronto to discuss this further with the Finance Committee of the PSAC Regional Council.
Mike also suggested that with enough support he sees no reason why this deal could not be expanded nationally.
